When making his short Manasanamaha a few years ago, director Deepak Reddy viewed it more as a pilot for his major, feature film debut. The intriguing look at a young person’s love life through several seasons in the short, which features Viraj Ashwin and Drishika Chander in the key characters, has an uncommon narrative structure.
The passion for Manasanamaha, however, rose exponentially as the movie was uploaded on YouTube while lockdown, and later it was also dubbed in several languages. The short eventually gained notoriety in most film festivals across the world and frequently took first place. The short was on the verge of both an Academy Award and a BAFTA nomination.
It has officially joined the Guinness Book of World Records and is the most honoured movie in cinematic history. Deepak Reddy, who will soon direct his debut feature film, couldn’t have hoped for a better start to his career when Manasanamaha won a total of almost 900 prizes. Prithvi Sharma, Bunny Abhiran, and Valli Raghvender also starred in the short.
Shilpa Gajjala produced Manasanamaha. The movie, which featured Kamran’s music, was cinematographed by Edurolu Raju. Sulochana Surapu served as the creative producer, and Kala Studio edited the short. Prashanti Chakravarthi, an art director, and Vincent Praveen, a line producer, are other members of the crew.
